Is your Illinois License Plate Stolen or Missing?
Are you missing the back license plate too and you are wondering if you lost it somewhere on the road?
Your Illinois Plates are most likely stolen from your vehicle.
The thieves usually steal the plate to attach to another car they stole and drive around with your license plate on it; however that was “so last year”
Starting this year, there is a new “trend” how the thieves can have even better use of your Illinois license plate. Since the economy is down and the gas prices are still not cheap, so they are using your license plate while filling up the tank on their vehicle and drive off.
If you do not report your plate was lost or stolen, this will come down on you and you might be held responsible for any illegal action made while they were using your license plate.
Don’t drive without missing plate call your local Police Department and make the report in right away. As soon as that part is done, immediately after go to your “DMV” and they will issue a new set of license plates along with the sticker.
If you are 60 years old or older, the replacement plate and the sticker for remaining year will be free of charge, for all other there is a nominal cost of $23.00*
